Privacy Policy
Short version: GNSS Skyplot works out which satellites are above a position, entirely in your browser. If you share your location, it is used on your device to draw the sky and is never sent, stored or logged. There are no accounts, cookies, analytics or ads. The only services your browser talks to are the host that serves the page and a public CDN that serves the 3D library and the Earth image.
1. Who we are
GNSS Skyplot ("the site", "we", "us") is a web page by Rogério do Carmo that shows the GPS, Galileo, BeiDou and GLONASS satellites above a position, on a skyplot and a 3D globe, computed from the satellites' broadcast orbits. This policy explains how the site handles information.
2. Information we collect
None. The site has no user accounts, no forms that send data, no analytics, no advertising, no cookies and no trackers. It does not store anything in your browser either.
3. Your location
When the page opens it asks your browser for your location, so it can show the sky above you straight away. You can refuse, and the page then shows a fixed reference station (PRU2, in Presidente Prudente, Brazil) instead. If you allow it:
- The latitude, longitude and height your browser reports are used on your device, in the page's own code, to compute satellite directions. They are not sent to us or to anyone else, not stored, and gone when you close the page.
- Your browser decides how to find your position. Depending on the browser and system, it may use a location service of its own (for example Google's or your operating system's), which is covered by that provider's privacy policy, not this one.
Positions you type into the form are handled the same way: on your device only.
4. Services your browser contacts
- Vercel, which hosts the site. Like any web server, it receives your IP address and browser details with each request and keeps them in short-lived logs. See Vercel's privacy policy.
- jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net), which serves the three.js 3D library and the image of the Earth. It receives your IP address and browser details in the same way. See jsDelivr's privacy policy.
Neither receives your location. The satellite data comes with the site itself: it is downloaded from the IGS broadcast files mirrored by BKG when the site is built, not by your browser. The source links at the bottom of the page lead to BKG only if you follow them.
5. Data sharing and selling
Because the site collects no data, there is nothing to share, sell, or disclose to third parties.
6. Data retention and security
The site stores no personal data, so there is no user data to retain or delete. The page is served over HTTPS only.
7. Children's privacy
The site does not collect any data from anyone, including children. It contains no ads, no purchases, and no data collection.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
